Square Elephant Productions Creates Trailer and Advert for London Indian Film Festival 2026

Square Elephant Productions is proud to have created the trailer for the 17th London Indian Film Festival 2026, celebrating a bold and wide-ranging programme of South Asian cinema across London, Birmingham and Manchester.

The London Indian Film Festival has long been an important platform for independent cinema from India, South Asia and the wider diaspora. Each year, the festival brings together premieres, special screenings, restored classics, industry events, conversations and new voices from across the world of film.

Square Elephant Productions has been a long-running supporter and sponsor of the festival. As a production company, we believe strongly in supporting independent cinema, diverse storytelling and creative voices that deserve to be seen on the big screen. LIFF has always created space for stories that challenge, entertain and reflect the many layers of South Asian identity, and we are proud to continue supporting that mission.

This year’s programme includes a rich mix of films, special events and landmark conversations. LIFF 2026 opens with 52 Blue, directed by award-winning filmmaker Ali El Arabi and starring Neha DhupiaAdil Hussain and Yadav Shashidhar. The film is a poignant coming-of-age drama about a young man from Kerala whose dream of meeting Lionel Messi takes him on an unexpected journey to the Football World Cup in Qatar.

The festival also celebrates major cultural moments, including the Goodness Gracious Me Reunion, bringing together one of the most influential British Asian comedy teams; a special screening of Lagaan, one of Indian cinema’s most iconic modern classics; and In Conversation: Aamir Khan, where the multi-award-winning actor, filmmaker and producer reflects on his remarkable career. From Raja HindustaniDil Chahta HaiRang De Basanti3 Idiots and PK, to the Academy Award-nominated Lagaan, Aamir Khan’s work has helped shape contemporary Indian cinema for audiences across the world.

The programme also includes important and thought-provoking work such as In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones, connected to the writing of Arundhati Roy, alongside new films and events including A Mosquito in the Ear and India’s AI & Film Future. The AI-focused event explores how emerging technologies and new filmmaking tools are opening up fresh possibilities for South Asian storytellers, with shorts, micro-shorts and a panel discussion looking at what the future may hold for the next generation of filmmakers.

For LIFF 2026, we created the main festival trailer using selected clips from the programme, shaping it into a fresh, cinematic and energetic piece that reflects the spirit of the festival. The creative direction this year leaned into a slightly more upbeat summer feel, while still celebrating the depth, emotion and range of the films being showcased.

Alongside the main trailer, we also created a shorter advert from the trailer, designed to help promote the festival, drive ticket sales and create urgency around screenings, special events and the wider festival experience.

It is always a pleasure to work with the London Indian Film Festival team and to play a small part in helping bring these films and filmmakers to wider audiences.
